Lauren & Julien
Most people don't know that working for a wedding photographer was one of my first paid creative jobs. For various reasons these days I shoot very few weddings but when my old friend Lauren invited me to photograph her's in North Carolina I couldn't resist.
Last week I flew into Asheville and made the two hour drive to Staurolite Farms stopping occasionally at a junk shop since I can't resist. Weddings at their finest are a time to celebrate a union of two people's lives. As I've grown older and my friends have dispersed around the world I've also come to appreciate them as a "family" reunion. Many of us who made the trip there hadn't seen each other in years. On the flip side it was equally a treat to meet Lauren's new husband Julien and his friends, many who traveled impressive distances from Switzerland. The time at Staurolie Farms was filled with many languages, love and lots of dancing. My appreciation for the south continues to grow every trip back. Here's a string of the weekend highlights:
Congratulations Lauren & Julien!! Thank you for having me document your day. For friends, family & curious on-lookers, view the full set is here.
Coming up next: After the wedding weekend my girlfriend and I hit the road to Alabama to visit Butch Anthony.
