They Merged Their Intimacy: Rural Tennessee

Recently (like the past 3 years) my life has been consumed by the Sign Painter movie but I have still managed to continue work on a few other ongoing projects. One of which is shooting photos of alternative living spaces/communities/structures in the United States. My general hope is that the photos will capture the essence of what these places embrace. What they allow to unfold creatively and spiritually. The sense of calm and safety the bring to their visitors and residence.

The follow 35 images are a small slice of a trip I took this past April to rural Tennessee. I was able to go check out and shoot a poetry/writers event held at a queer land project and educational space. This location that will remain unnamed for privacy purposes has a long history of making radical amazing things happen. I'm hoping to have a selection of prints from this series along with photos from North Carolina and Minnesota upcoming exhibits this fall. More on that later.

The only photo of me from this trip is my ghost reflection on the wet porch. I swear it was real.

It's finally happening

It's been almost 4 years in the works and my new film Sign Painters is finally coming to the public.

This week is the kick-off to movie programing around the world in theaters, museums, schools and alternative venues. For a list of screenings + programing visit the website. If you're in the Milwaukee (May 16) + Chicago (May 17) area we hope to see you this week!
