The thing about having friends that move around the country a lot is you never know who may show up. And sometimes, a bunch of people all show up who know each other and didn't know the other one would be in town. This happened this week. I got a call from Bill Daniel who has been trying to make his way back across the country to Pittsburgh. He had some artwork from his show at Paper Boat to pick up and was swinging into town to get it. This just happened to coincide with a surprise visit from Mike Brodie, Alexis and Patrick. We all had a mid-week brunch at our house and caught up on who was where, what was going on and running your car on grease. I love my friends.

Monotonix
So last night there was a fantastic mind-blowing show at the Borg Ward, Big Fun, Red Knife Lottery, Call Me Lightning and Monotonix from Tel Aviv.
I went cameraless, which sorta makes me kick myself, however, I would not of enjoyed the night as much and I know that Sam took a ton of tight shots (not uploaded yet). I saw Monotonix the last time they played here and it revived my show going soul and this time round I was not dissapointed. Starting the show in the back room and living up to their rep the entire band, crowd, insturments (never stopped playing) moved into the front gallery, out into the middle of National Ave. and then ending in the green space next door with a wild ass dance party. I have total rocker neck today. Thank you Monotonix for bringing it so damn hard.
Here are two pictures I took on my phone:
Packers game being watched outside the show in back.
Sometimes our house is full of talented sleepers.
If you happen to live near Indianapolis or Minneapolis this week don't miss the show. Call Me Lightning will be joining them too- good times. Check out this video I pulled from you tube to get an idea of the mayham......

Well today was the big day. The article ran in the NY Times. It's been a little overwhelming and I'm very thankful to have friends who are so appreciative of what I am doing. The link to the article is here:

Thurman O'Herlihy
This is a double post, it's over on the Handmade Nation blog too... so so so good.
Micaela O'Herlihy is the Director of Photography for Handmade Nation. She is an amazing woman; artist, filmmaker, mother of two. Her son Thurman who is 9 recently had his second art opening and Mark Escribano was there to document it. He shot some fantastic footage and recently put a short up on youtube, if you watch it, make sure you get to the end. Stills I shot from the party are HERE.
